Congratulations to the 2022 APTA Wisconsin Southeast District Mary Pat Murray Award Recipient, Kim DeChant, PT, DPT, NCS! Kim was nominated for her role in educating and mentoring young professionals and her work with patients with neurological disorders. Kim has been instrumental in the development of the Neuro Recovery Clinic at Marquette University. Kim’s work with the Neuro Recovery Clinic embodies the work of Mary Pat Murray through her commitment to research, education, and excellence in clinical practice.

Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Professional Development Program

Cohort Eight Now Open for Registration!

6 Weekend Course • Approximately 90 CEUs

Over an 18 month time frame

First course - February 4-5, 2023 at Bellin Health in Green Bay

Instructors: Phil Schaible, PT, DPT, Joe Kucksdorf, PT, DPT, and Bob Brady, PT, MPT

The Northeast District of APTA Wisconsin is pleased to present the eighth cohort Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Professional Development Program. The program goal is to provide a quality and affordable continuing education program where content builds from one course to the next implementing complementary educational principles. It is designed to advance the skill set of physical therapists working in the outpatient orthopedic setting at a discount to those who are active APTA Wisconsin members.

The total cost of the course is $1,200, with $600 due prior to the start of the 1st and 4th courses. Course dates will be determined four to six months in advance. Participants who miss one course are able to attend future courses with future cohorts at no additional cost.

Location: Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, 1970 South Ridge Road, Green Bay, WI, USA

This course will introduce the concepts of effective exercise dosing, prescription and rationale in the orthopedic and sports setting. Topics covered will include discussion on clinical decision making for utilization of frequency, duration, and intensity/load to achieve a desired stimulus. Discussion will cover patient specific dosing using rate of perceived exertion, reps in reserve, and patient feedback. Although there will be lecture and group discussion, the course will be primarily lab based. We will cover how to assess, teach, cue and coach the squat, deadlift and overhead press. Modifications and progressions for each movement will be covered to address a large patient population. The goal will be to introduce very practical and clinically applicable topics for immediate carry over into clinical rotations and practice.
