Description

This dynamic and fun two-hour session will use case-based learning, covering a real-world, outpatient orthopedic case to facilitate an active learning experience. Application of patient-centered and evidence-informed practice will be included with an emphasis on clinical reasoning and meta-cognitive processes utilizing the test retest model. The session is designed to help learners understand how to effectively obtain a thorough subjective examination that supports hypothesis development, planning of an appropriate objective examination and supportive treatment that seek to implement the hypothetico-deductive reasoning model.

The case will be specific to the cervicothoracic spine with focus on differential diagnosis including both red flags and musculoskeletal conditions. The hypothesis generation will start in the subjective and continue through the objective exam and treatment based on emerging data and patient response.

Course Schedule:

6:30-6:45: Introductions and Intro to Case

6:45-7:30: Subjective exam review

7:30-8:00: Objective exam review

8:00-8:15: Treatment review

8:15-8:30: Wrap-up/Questions
