LOCATON: CoLAB, 131 S. Barstow St. Ste 202, Eau Claire (same building as US Bank).
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Acute care therapists are well positioned to routinely screen body systems, safe mobility, activities of daily living/instrumental activities of daily living, caregiver and family support, home environment and set-up, activity tolerance, and risk factors for rehospitalization. Acute care therapists can further improve postpartum outcomes by utilizing their discipline-specific clinical tools to screen patients for symptoms related to common causes of maternal mortality during activities not typically assessed by other staff. This would include functional movement and tasks that mimic a patient's home environment and activities of daily living. This course will provide you the knowledge, skills, and clinical reasoning to better treat postpartum patients in the acute care setting.
PRESENTER BIO
Jennifer Plaetz, PT, DPT
Jennifer graduated from The College of St. Scholastica with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2014. She has always had a passion for pelvic health. During her last internship she worked with a Women’s Health Specialist and primarily saw pelvic floor patients which helped foster her passion. During her first year post-graduation, she developed and started a pelvic floor program at Glacial Ridge Health System in Glenwood, MN. While working at Mayo for 5+ years she progressed their pelvic floor program to include pre and post prostatectomy care. Currently, Jennifer continues to progress the pre and postpartum care and prostatectomy care at HSHS/Prevea. She has expanded her care by independently contracting with Tuning Tree/WombSpace PT to deliver care without the restrictions of third party payers. Jennifer's passion is hoping to bridge the gap of care for the pre and postpartum population and to incorporate pelvic PT as a standard practice of care. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, running, and spending time with her husband
