Description

Intended Audience:  Physical & Occupational Therapists, Therapist Assistants, Office/Billing Administration

This course is designed to teach rehabilitation personnel both clinical and administrative the skills needed to maximize coverage and payment by third party payers for therapy services.  Both traditional and niche providers will learn how to best understand and remain contemporary on third party payer policies.  Proper evaluation and documentation as well as diagnostic coding will be explored.  In addition, short cuts to preparing authorization and appeal documents will be addressed.  It is time that we all have a better understanding of the payer side of the game! 

Course Objectives: 

  • Participants will list key policies that pertain to coverage and payment of therapy services.
  • Participants will identify key niche services as well as traditional PT services that would benefit from optimal payer policy coverage insight. 
  • Participants will experience then outline the process of determining payment policies as they pertain to ICD-10 DX coding, CPT Coding and timed code billing. 
  • Participants will outline how Medical/Clinical Coverage policies impact patient access to care and provider payment. 

 

About The Speaker(s)

Lynn Steffes, PT, DPT, is a 1981 graduate of Northwestern University, and completed her Transitional DPT in 2010. She served as a Network Administrator for a group of 50+ private practice clinics where her primary responsibilities included marketing, payer and provider relations and contract management. In addition Dr. Steffes is active in her profession on the Nominating Committee for the Private Practice Section of APTA, and the WPTA, serving as the Chapter’s Reimbursement Specialist. She is President/Consultant of Steffes & Associates, a rehabilitation consulting service. She provides consulting services to rehab providers nation-wide.
