Course Overview

Documentation integrity is more than a clinical expectation. It is a compliance requirement with real financial, operational, and legal consequences. This course provides a broader, more interactive learning experience for rehabilitation teams seeking a deeper understanding of documentation, billing, payer compliance, and reimbursement-related decision-making across the full episode of care. In addition to core documentation and billing principles, this course allows time for deeper discussion related to Medicare Physician Fee Schedule concepts, advanced medical necessity considerations, case-based application, breakout discussion, and team-based problem-solving. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of how documentation, coding, payment, and compliance expectations interact in real clinical practice.

• Apply a broader compliance framework to documentation and billing decisions across rehabilitation practice
• Strengthen evaluation, plan of care, treatment, and progress documentation to better support medical necessity and payment
• Recognize how Medicare Physician Fee Schedule concepts influence documentation and billing decision-making

Speaker Bio:

Kelly Ashbeck, PT, DPT, is the owner of Ashbeck HC Solutions and serves as the APTA WI Payment Specialist and co-chair of the APTA WI Pain SIG. A 2008 graduate of the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Kelly completed an orthopaedic residency through Specialized Physical Therapy Education in 2014. Kelly has 17 years of clinical experience and more than five years of experience in revenue cycle management, contracting, credentialing, and compliance. Through Ashbeck HC Solutions, Kelly also supports rehabilitation practices in operational and payment-related services.
